Due to the growing popularity of sports, the level of competition has increased drastically. Whether you are a competitive athlete or a weekend warrior the need for athletic condition is a must. Each sport has its specific needs, but they all need speed, agility and quickness. That speed, agility and quickness comes from a well-planned strength and conditioning program.
Our goal for your strength and conditioning program
Our goal for all our athletes is to keep them as safe as possible during the competition season. The grind of training can take its toll on the body so the strength and conditioning program must be designed to meet the need. We aim to condition the body in a scientific and safe manner. That starts with the testing which develops into your periodization program.
The Foundation, the Assessment
Every program starts with a functional movement screen (Functional Movement Screening), the foundation of the program, because when the foundation is solid the athlete is solid. The movement screen is a great predictor of future injuries due to muscular imbalance and movement compensations. The foundation also includes:
- Body composition (9 site skin fold)
- Beep test for estimated VO2 max
- Muscular strength and endurance test
The Periodization Plan
Once the foundation has been laid we move into the strength and conditioning program. A well-organized S & C program will produce the body that can handle the demands of the sport. The program is cycled through phases which include:
- Anatomical Adaptation
- Hypertrophy
- Maximum Strength
- Power
- Peaking
The duration of each phase is specific to the sport and the athlete, which is why the foundation has to be there. That way each program is specifically tailored to the athlete’s need as well the demand of the specific sport. Proper evaluation and a sound strength and condition training program will not only help you on the field but it will keep you on the field as well.
If it wasn’t for the training Jeff provided me and my skiing, I would not be where I am today. My strength has greatly improved and I am able to progress in competitive skiing in ways I couldn’t of without his training. It really amazes me.
